Prolly wont just up and die, but it will definitely collect all kinds of crap on the spark plugs and rotor faces from the incomplete combustion of the oil.

Just keep your oil topped off and you can prolly keep driving it for a long time.

Well, until one of those carbon deposits falls off the rotor face and mulches an apex seal or three.

i guess i should give a little bit of info it is 89 GTUs it leaks some oil but it needs an oil pan gasket so that is probably where it leaks from.

I have drove my old motors a long time with the same problem as yours. Once your at higher RPM the oil pressure increases and the oil slips past the seals. Personally, I hated it, (until someone got right on my a$$ haha rev to 5k and keep blipping the throttle they will back off .. instant smoke screen) but got used to it. Like he said, keep it topped off, there are going to be good and bad oil weeks, and they will sneak up on you. You will most likely be able to run it like that for a while, but you will get tired of it. Save up for a rebuild/swap.

wait wait wait.....what color is the smoke?

oilpan gasket is a bitch.....those last 5 bolts were the hardest bolts i have ever taken out of anything....but in reality its not that hard to do....once its done your car will feal...just better....mine felt stronger after i did it....you never really get all the oil drained until you pull the pan

Like they said, it will probably go for a long time like that. Maybe make sure you rev it up fairly often to prevent too much carbon from building up on the rotor face (like an RX7 owner needs to be told to rev it up anyway).

On the plus side because of the constant burning and topping up of oil you could probably get away with never doing another oil change... just replace the filter every once in a while!!! (for people who don't detect sarcasm well i am being sarcastic!!!)

If it's coolant, your LOW COOLANT light / buzzer should've went off by now, and the engine would've easily overheated.
I doubt it's coolant.
If you wanna smell the smoke, it's going to smell "sweet"; burning oil will be acrid and burn your nose.

The engine won't let go immediately.
How much miles on your engine?
As long as this is not a low oil pressure problem, the engine will easily last 1...maybe 2 more years.
Like others have said...as long as the spark plugs can burn off the oil, it'll still run.
Once you have too much oil leaking, they will smother the spark plugs first.

It doesn't take that much oil to cause it to smoke.
This is why you don't see a big drop in oil levels.
