Hello I own an 86 rx7 fc and plan on doing an oil change. I understand the rotary engine and premixed for as long as I’ve own it. But I wanted to know what are some good brands to use for an oil change? Any advice helps thanks.

 

Why does being in california matter?

 

Literally any modern motor oil thats the correct weight will be just fine as long as you change it normally.

 

The Mazda FSM recommends petroleum based motor oil. I usually use either Castrol GTX 20W-50 or Valvoline 20W-50 year around.

 

I run Valvoline VR1 20W-50 on both my cars year round in CA. Temps never drop below 40 over here.

 

Castrol GTX from Day 1
20-50 in the summer and 10-30 in the winter if you live in the mountains.
