Oil braided Lines/Hoses

I was just wondering what the Diameter both the hoses that go to and from the oild cool have to be. I am planing on making my own braided lines. The only thing that i want to know is how big the fittings would have to be and what the diameter has to be for it to work. I am getting some braided hoses from Summit racing. Thank again for the Relies.

The thing is that the upper outlet hose that goes from the engine to the oil cooler on the top busted. It is spealing lots of oil out of it. I was just thinking that it would probably be alot cheaper doing this. I really done know yet what kind of fittings i am going to use i still have to find out.

I think people have a hard time finding ones that fit... you can buy premade ones for around $175 usd from racingbeat, mazdacomp, or corksport.

it's not much more. the fittings are very $$$

damn, $175, i bought Mazdatrix's SS braided lines that mounted up to the stock fittings for $183 for the sending and returning lines shipped. if you are spending that much on just the fittings it's probably better Mazdatrix's lines, IMO.

Yeah I bought the Corksport SS lines that are the same as the RB and Mazdatrix ones for about $125 for the set of two; 4 months or so ago.

While it's always nice and easy to just pick up the phone, order the hoses, and let the Big Brown Truck drop them off, if you do some homework, you can save quite a bit of money in the process.

First off, the braided hose probably unnecessary, since the braiding only adds abrasion protection. Since the hoses reside fully in the engine bay, the need for that type of protection is minimal. Use the Aeroquip non-braided AQP or equivalent hose and save yourself a couple bucks per foot. Also, whenever possible, try to use straight fittings as opposed to 45 or 90 degree. You would be surprised how much the price goes up on the curved fittings. Add it up:

10' of -10AN hose = $40
-10 straight alum fitting = $9.49/ea
-10 curved fittings = 22.99/ea

So, maybe, if they got no purchase discounts, and they used all curved fittings, they might have $140 or so invested. However, you could all buy the stuff at the same price, if you wanted to build them yourself and save some dough.
