oil affects spool up ?

I just bought my turbo, it must have less than 20 miles on it. When I first got it spun really nice. THen now that I just removed it I noticed it didnt spin as it did when I just bought it... so I keep playing with it and I glance at my wd 40 can sitting next to it and I apply it directly in the oil inlet. And the turbo no spins like it did before.. There was a huge difference in the force required to spin it and how long it remained spining.. But the car hasnt been turned on for a while so I dont know if its cus it hasnt been ran or just that the thickness of the oil slows the bearing some. wd 40 as obviouse as can be is a million times thinner than engine oil, which is why I ask this question..

I think you nailed it yourself, the oil is quite a bit thicker when cold, so it tends to require a bit more force to spin. And of course, WD40 is rather thin and, tada, allows the bearings to spin freely without the drag of thick oil. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Haha, once the oil is heated up to proper temp, it allows the turbo to spin freely, and remember, TOO thin is also BAD, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Right after you shut it down...pull the TID and watch that turbo spin down....I am sure it still rotates nicely
