oil

ok. ive used the search but i cant seem to find exactly what im looking for.

#1 everything that has to do with synthetic oils keeps refering to premix, but i dont want to premix. ive been told by a friend a couple towns over that i dont need to premix being stock. i would how ever like to change to a synthetic oil for my motor any ways though.

that brings me to #2 what is the consencus about amsoil, or any suggstions on wich synthetic oil to switch to, and the best way to switch from a mineral oil to a synthetic.*aka to get all the mineral oil out*

and lastly #3 ive read up that most of you fellow Rx7 drivers seem to like 20w50 but most of you live in a warmer climate then i do. and that in a colder climate i should run something lighter. well i live on vancouver island, british columbia, Canada. and currently run Quaker State Peak Performance 10w30. i was thinking that that piticular weight will be fine for winter but im unshure about when summer hits, especailly since i would like to run synthetic oil.

suggestions and advice both welcome.and thank you for any help.

Stick with conventional Dino motor oil. As you have an oil metering pump on the car, that will supply oil into the chambers, so you won't need to premix. Premix (Placing lubricant into the gas tank) is only used if the OMP is removed, disabled, or someone wants more lubrication in the engine, which isn't needed. Run the 10w-30 in the winter, and change to 20w-50 or Shell Rotella 15w-40 in the summer, which is what I use.

Premixing is an option. Unless your car is going to be boosting alot, it doesn't make alot of difference as long as you change oil at a 3000mi. interval.

Recommended oil weights and the synthetic thing are covered in the FAQ for FC sticky thread found at the top of this section. Please read the FAQ for Fc sticky thread before posting, as it has answers to many of the commonly asked questions, such as the ones this trhead was started with.
