OH NO!!!! 4k IDLE!

Well I got through putting the car back together and I go to crank it up. And it wouldnt crank, wouldnt crank, then studder, studder, WAAAAAA, it comes to life and holds at 4000rpm. WTF? I checked the throttle cable, it looked fine. so i disconnected it just to be sure. still the same thing. I go to turn the car off and it continues to run for 30 seconds. I cant figure this **** out, I did the throttle body mod perfect. I checked over it again and again. Maybe an adjustment screw I didnt set right or something? Anyone have any idea?

Not many people around the forum tonight. I'd say check for vac leaks. I don't have alot of expierence with them, but from what I've read, your symptoms lean that way. Goodluck

I've decided that I'm going to replace the brake booster hose to the UIM cause I think its too big and causing a leak there. Plus when I pulled the intake manifold earlier the 2nd time I didnt use gasket sealent again so I may have screwed myself there. After that...I'm lost if that doesnt fix it.

Ok, now it will cold idle at 3k. Once it warms up it drops to 1500 and does the up and down idle. But heres the real pain in the ***. I can blip the throttle and the throttle will jump to 5k, 6k, hell it reved till it hit rev limiter one time and I had to imidiatly turn it off. DAMNIT!! This is pissin me off. I cant figure this out.

Yep, checked the cable. Its not tight, and I removed the cruise. I went through everything I could think of for a vaccuum leak. All turbo hoses and vaccum lines. I resealed the intake manifold, and reaplaced a suspicious hose (mentioned earlier. The idle is lower now but everynow and then it revs high at hell and holds there. theres got to be something I'm missing obviously. I just cant find it. but I have gotten the situation a lil better I guess.

you just got through putting the car back together... as in you rebuilt the engine? If so you may have screwed up the TPS or idle adjustment really bad. I don't know if that's able to send it up to 4000 rpm at idle but you may want to check and see if you idle is set correctly if you were just recently working on the engine.

No, not rebuilding the engine, I was just replacing the gasket that goes between the UIM, injector seals, and vaccuum lines. All vaccuum lines are good and in place, I'm positive of that. The UIM better be sealed good cause I took it off again to reseal it!
I just tried to drive the car. Hell, if you want to call it driving it. It has NO power. As soon as I get on the gas it starts stumbling. Backpops and fires a good bit though. I need to go back and check the tps. I may have been knocked out of adjustment. However I DID find one thing wrong. The "air intake thermosensor" (I think thats right) on the end of the throttle body, has a prong broken. I dont know how much trouble that would be causing me though.

Even if it was your TPS, you could still drive it, it would just have poor throttle responce. once you try to WOT it, The TPS doesn't play a roll.

it definately sounds like there is unmetered air entering the combustion chamber. Sounds to me like maybe you forgot to hook up a major vacuum line or something. Check the engine bay with a stethoscope or something. It is probably a vacuum problem.
