Just wondering which one of these OEM filters you people use. And if you know anything about them if one is better than the other yadda yadda.

I use Bosch. I would use OEM if they sold them at a volume discount. I might pick up a few for my TII as I will be doing a lot of oil changes in the near future.

B6Y2 14 302-Case from dealer in CA. $44.00 shipped to your door.
They are small and easy to install under the intercooler.

Strange...

i use B6Y1's We get them strait from Mazda as well.

The Oil filters we install on customers cars are also small and very easy to install. Many do not know, but the Mazda OEM filter is one of the best.

Wonder what the part # diff means between your filter and mine Turbonut ?

Err..
What does the 9 and 9A mean?

I know the B6Y1 and B6Y2 are made by different contracting companies, one in Japan and one over here in the states.

Ford does not make oil filters. They buy oil filters and put their parts company name on them.

they all should superceed to b6y2-14-302 something, if you are buying from a mazdausa sourced parts dealer.

b6y1-14-302 is what is available in the rest of the world

n3y6 is a vintage part number, it was superceeded by the b6y1 before the fd was introduced.

the japanese filters are made by toyo roky (sp?)
and the us filters are made by tennex, who had a hard time making it so the filters would screw on in 97-98 when they were phased in.

i use the tall filters, g6yo (tennex) or je15 (jdm)

I used an OEM filter a couple changes ago, but I threw out the box so I can't say what the part number was. It was so tiny, I went back to a Mobil1 filter at the next change. There is just something about those teeny little filters I don't trust.

Yeah, but I that tiny OEM filter I had was stamped "Made in Mexico" IIRC. (or was it China?) I might run over to the dealer and pick up another just to get the P/N off it.
