Angry Oddball electrical issue.

Im thinking it might be a grounding problem as im fresh out of ideas, but i want some input.

The car starts and idles. but roughly. It will not get passed 2k while revving, regardless. if you keep the pedal down, the car will die. its backfiring alot when you play with the gas.

i replaced the coils with know working ones.
The alt. is charging fine.
the plugs are new.
TPS is dead on.
didnt use to do this, it just happened rarely, then more often and now...all the time.

im thinking there is a bad ground somewheres. is this possible? can it cause this kinda of problem?

Easy thing to miss - crossed up plug wires.

Maybe a bad spot in the sweep of the TPS..

the plug wires are the problem either. one, it happened over time before i tried fixing it. two, i thought the same thing so i tried it both way. and it wouldnt even start switched.

Here's that video clip from when mine first started to show a drop-out in the TPS sweep.

short, crappy video of worn out TPS

A day later, it wouldn't go past 2K.

4.5 Mb video of a good TPS test

ill try replaceing it. but i cant even get passed 2k-no load. it hits a brickwall and dies unless i let off the gas then i catches itself and idles again. And it backfires hard when its dying from all the wasted fuel.

It could be a related problem, but I used to have that problem, but I could drive and put a load on it, (the absolute least throttle % and still accelerate) And I could not get going past 55 mph, which I think is about the 2000-2200 RPM range. Later I found out that my TPS harness connecter was corroded. It would always test fine, so I thought that the connector was good, but I guess the combination of slightly corroded female and more corroded male end is enough to give it alot of trouble.

If your gonna do that, just replace your main power wires. If you shop around Im sure you can score a good deal on 4 ga. wire. I did a write up of mine awhile ago. And I hear that Aaron Cake is gonna write a "thread to end all threads" on this issue.
If you wanna see mine, just search "needa13b" and find the "S4 FD Alt install" thread I made.
There is also a good write up at Rotary Ressurection I think.
