Odd squeeking sound coming from steering.
A couple of months ago I purchased a red Turbo II in pretty good shape off of someone who previously posted here. Since then I've fixed a couple of the problems/annoyances the car had, but right now I'm kind of stuck on this particular issue.
The car does not have power steering, it's a manual rack, and in colder weather, it will often make a loud squeeking sound while the car is being steered. The noise only happens while the wheel is being turned, and stops when the wheel isn't moving. After driving the car enough during the day, the noise will stop or be very, very faint. I've searched a few times, but most of the questions, and their answered, involve power steering.
I was just wanting to see if anybody else has had this same problem with their FCs, or just other cars without power steering, and what they did to fix it before I bend over and take it to a mechanic if it's something I can't identify. Could the rack and pinion just need to be lubed up?
Thanks in advance.

I'd put money on upper strut mounts in the front. There is a bearing in there that makes the noise. I had the same problem--squeaking in the cold whether when driving in a parking lot--and I changed the strut mounts when I did the shocks. That fixed it.
