when it tries to change gears it revs and bogs a bit and then shifts ..... I am thinking fuel filter but just in case I need anything else I am posting (87 rx-7 non turbo automatic)

 

sounds like the clutch is going..... you might want to change the tranny fluid

Pull the tranny dipstick. How does the fluid look? Does it smell burnt in any way?

 

if the ATF is not red anymore, change it.

 

eh when I got the car the girl hadn't put any fluid in it so it was below dipstick level.... I filled it and the thing ran better but now (after I changed the plugs too) it's doing the rev. I am thinking now that maybe the girl ran it with low fluid and I just mixed new with cruddy stuff and should change it...
