turbo hood on non-turbo

Is there any danger when using a turbo hood on a non-turbo rx? Obviously water will get in when it rains, but is this much of an issue?

The turbo hood on non turbo 7 is right up there with downs syndrome headlights and park bench spoilers.

It can actually cause a slight reduction in cooling system performance at speed since it adds turbulence, but I've never had a problem with my car overheating. That said, I really wouldn't mess with it. It gives barely any weight savings and really is the equivilant of putting Cobra markings on a base Mustang, ie. lame. My car came with it and I'm too cheap and lazy to get a n/a hood. If I ever find one in good condition thats the right color (doubtful) I might pick it up, but who knows.
Edit: You should also get the hood latch from the Turbo since it is calibrated for the lighter hood. Otherwise you will have to slam the hood closed, which is kinda annoying.

I think it's personal preference really... You have to admit the TII hood looks cool. If you wanna put it on your N/A, do it.

After you put on the TII hood... maybe one day you'll decide to 13BT swap it.

stop talking smack like him putting the t2 hood on is ricerish its not, it looks hot, i have a 10 second eagle talon with a mitsubishi front bumper on it, does that make it ricey, no! i can see you saying stuff like that if he put a turbo sticker on his car or put a giant wing on it but its just the stupid hood witch looks hot by the way, so stop acting all self confident talking smack about someone elses style, like said in the other replies its about preference, and its not yours so dont open your mouth if you want to be negative, his asked for any problems it would cause not for your comments on if you like it

In my experience, your average person thinks all RX-7s are turbo’d regardless of the hood.

The simple fact is that the name “RX-7” is well known but technical information about the car is not.

T2 hoods look sweet; if you want one on your NA go for it.

Yes, having a nonfunctional hood scoop is about as ricey as nonfunctional wings and "Type R" stickers.

Wings that serve no purpose unless your doing 200 mph....I agree, although if you put stickers on your car you actually gain 1hp per sticker! This has been an issue talked about on this forum since a long long time ago and it always ends up in a brawl. Some people know about 7's and some dont, I get asked if I have a turbo, is it a v6, what kinda car is it, and other wierd questions. I have a n/a with TII carbon fiber hood on it and the car still says gtu on the side. When I bought it 6 yrs ago I believe it was the same price or close so why not, I havent noticed a diffrence in cooling either way or any other differences. Well except having to give it a little push to latch down. If no one else likes it then oh well, we all know whats opinions are like.

so if you upgrade from tmic to a fmic or vmount, are you required to get rid of your turbo II hood and get a normal hood?

the turbo II hood scoop is only moderately functional even on actual turbo II's to begin with.

bottomline, let the kid have some fun.

My turbo II has been sitting for a year, so I swapped the hood on my sport dd. I don't see how swapping a stock hood from the same car to a different model can be considered rice. (Big pic, sorry)

There is a big difference between staying with your stock part and paying to install a nonfuntional part to make it look like you are boosting.

Maybe he needs one of these, too:

Own a Non-Turbo and want the BOV Swoosh Sound? Want others to hear the sound or TURBO spooling up without spending thousands on a turbo system??

Then get this easy to install BOV/Turbo Horn that will give you the prestige of a turbocharged car without the $$$!
