Odd Pic Request - Underside of car.
Odd Pic Request - Underside of car.
I wondered if I can get someone to link and/or take pics of the underside of an s4 or s5, in particular I am looking for pictures in front and behind the rear axle, following the exhaust stream.
Thanks in advance.

Ok, I looked through the factory repair manual, and I couldn't find what I was looking for...
My haynes manual is with the car (which is at my friends garage) which is why I need the pics.
I am looking at clearance with the exhaust, rear axle, ground, and how much space is under there.

may I ask why?
Because there is enough space under the rear subframe (pretty much the lowest point in the rear assembly other than the fuel tank) to run exhaust.........on a stock or nearly stock height RX-7......
But what are you doing that you need the picture? the clearance will vary greatly between suspension setups so knowing what you need might help more.

I am contemplating sticking this under there.

I have many reasons for thinking about this, but if there simply isn't room than it doesn't matter.

well.........there's room "technically" speaking.
But just a FYI....those kits are designed for cars that really can't fit a snail in the engine bay...putting one on a 7 would basically be wayyy more piping than a usual steup, wayyy more plumbing than a usual setup and wayyy more lag than a usual setup.
But, it should fit up where one muffler used to if you're turly that insterested in a rear mounted turbo system.

There wouldn't be enough room anywhere in the rear of the car. If you put in a fuel cell and deleted the gas tank, then you would have plenty of room.
Over all, its a waste on an RX7. We have TOO MUCH room in the engine bay.

It isn't an engine bay issue.
The intercooler coupled with the charge pipes being cooler, gives over 95% efficiency. Think how prone rx7's are to detonating, and then think how awesome it would be to have virtually the same air temp in and out of the compressor. If there is no room then it doesn't matter, but if I wanted to turbo my car it is custom regardless, why not try something that hasn't been done?

not to mention most of the vehicles using that set up dont have to give a crap about lag due to the torque they make anyways (gto, mustangs) and it is true lag isnt that bad
