odd idling problem, and cant find any answers yet
when i crank up my 87 gxl N/A it takes longer than normal to crank, and when it does, runs rough, thru all rpms, also now blows out quite a bit of white smoke, especially when u rev it up. this whole problem happened when i cranked it up one morning, and it cranked up slow, then a moderately loud pop sound happened, and then it cranked over when i tried to crank it right afterwards. also wondering if feeling warm air over the engine is normal, like around the top of it, near the throttle. I hope someone could tell me whats wrong.
White smoke most always is caused from antifreeze getting into the combustion chamber.
With the pop sound you described, I don't believe there is any good news.
If the smoke smells like maple syrup, you've likely blown a coolant seal.
Bad News: time for a rebuild.

well i got it to crank again, the white smoke is gone, so, i'm guessing that was just from it being a bit flooded, the exhaust has no smell to it, at least like a leak, like how it use to. and there isnt a sweet smell to it either. If its needing a rebuild where should i look to get one at?
