OBX headers not fitting my 88 rx7 convertible

Just as the title says my obx headers are not fitting properly on my car. I have the 88 rx7 convertible. Basicly whats happing is the engine cradel is getting in the way of a proper fit. Is there anything i can do to fix this.

You may need to temporarily remove one of the underbody braces to fit the header in firstly, then try and reattach the brace. However upon review of what the obx header looks like, compared to a RB header, it seems the OBX swoops down earlier and may be hitting the bracing.

I didn't run into this problem when I last installed a RB header/presilencer combo into a S5 vert, in fact if I remember right, i didnt recall any issues with the bracing, It seems to me that the OBX manifold is not made to fit the verts, just the coupes.

Edit: Can you tell us where its hitting or not fitting at? pictures speak volumes considering the nature of the problem.

Its hitting the back brace that connects the drive side to the pasenger side it looks like some type of body roll brace its attached to both driver and passenger with 4 bolts on each side.

pretty simple really- buy different headers or modify the bracing

well as noted above you have a couple options:

Option 1: sell/trade the OBX header to someone with a coupe and buy/trade for a RB header which will 100% clear that brace.

Option 2: keep the OBX header and cut/weld/bash on the brace until it fits. Unfortunately you may not be able to keep the brace intact since the area needed to clear the header will either cut almost all the way through the brace, or be all the way through.

Personally I would go with option 1 over option 2. That brace is there for a reason and its not going to like being cut up and hammered on to fit a cheapo header.

They won't fit without some form of modification.
The Vert's have extra bracing and the coupes don't.
that is why RB says,"except for convertable".
I wouldn't screw with the rigidity of the car and Compromise that brace,I would be looking at getting the right Part for the car or Modifying the part itself...I mean really,If you buy wheels that don't fit, do you sell the car and get a car that Fit The wheels???..NO,you get new wheels!
Good luck to ya,Enjoy the ride!

According to RB site their headers fit 'all' nonturbo FC models. Ive installed their headers on both a S4 NA and a S5 vert without issue, though you do need the presilencer for it to mate up to the y-pipe.
