OBD Tool ?
A real quick one.
Will an OBD work on a 1991 N/A ?
If YES, which is the best one to buy? Why?
If NO, what are the options?
Thank you.
Robert

No.
The 2nd gen has only the most rudimentary diagnostic functions and can only be accessed using a Mazda tool (or simply jumping the code terminals....check the FAQ for code reading info).

There is no standardized OBD II interface on any US RX-7. The check engine light and flashing ECU codes are it (OBD I style). I guess that is not explicitly covered in the FAQ.
You could get an RTek7 ECU and a PDA or possibly some other aftermarket full or piggyback ECU depending on what information you want.

I was updating my bookmarks today. Here's a link to how to read the codes.

The ONLY way to check rx codes is with a mazda tester or a multimeter/light/etc. They don't use any standard and only have about 15 codes total. When things go wrong, start a thread in this section
