Question O2 sensor sensitivity

Hey all,
Getting a code 17 (feedback system) and the fsm says to check the O2 sensor sensitivity but with an SST, which I don't want to buy.
How can I do this without it?

I did. things seem to be working better.

However, I was hoping to find out how to do this as it's one of the steps for testing that can lead to diagnosing other problems. Like maybe the ECU is screwed.

Well, I'm ignorant. I don't know what a SST is. I thought that was a Chevy product of some sort. Chevelle????

The only thing I know about 02 sensors is to tap into it with a digital meter and read the millivolts. And maybe watch its reading with the air pump working and not working. Different readings at the same idle speed. So, bump goes the thread.

just use a volt meter... if it's around .2 - .9 volts with the car running. the sensor is probably ok. as above rev it up and watch it move around between those 2 numbers or close.

if it reads 0 volts with it pluged in. and gets a reading with it unpluged. then the harness wire is shorted.

Special Service Tool. Don't you read the FSM?

Mark, the SST used in this case is just a glorified voltmeter. Just check its voltages like Hailers mentioned. He's not that ignorant really...
