nut stripped! help!

I'm in the process of changing out my clutch master cylinder on my 87 N/A gxl. The two 12 mm nuts are giving me problems. I got one off perfectly fine, but the one closest to the floorboard is stuck, and its stripped. I cant seem to get it off at all, the socket just rotates on the nut, but the nut wont move!

I vote put another nut on the stud all the way down to the other nut and zap it where they meet with the welder.

Back off the siamese nuts with your socket.

HAHAHAHAHA SUCKER the same thing happened to me when i had to replace the master cylinder for my clutch. So what i did was i went to Sears and bought this little set of stripped nut removers, i forgot what they're called i'm at work now so when i get home i'll reply again but anyway the set cost around 50 dollars or something that nut came right off as soon as i figured out how to get into that dam small space.

But anyway once you get the old one off the new one is really easy to install.

Anyways becareful with ur brake discs too cuz sometimes those bolts are stripped too...

Good luck

Did you try another socket, eg an SAE, not metric to see if it would fit?

Some tools have fins inside so that when you turn to loosen, they dig into the nut and back it off:

I believe you put this over the stripped nut, then a deep socket around the outside of the tool.

I cant get at it to cut, such a confined space makes it tedious to even get at with a wrench.
