now wtf is is the problem?

we got the new rebuilt engine in the 88gxl. last weekend we had it set to idle at 1500rpms, but the injectors were leaking and it flood every time it was shut off. so we put in the new injectors today, and when we crank it, it starts right away, then surges up to 3000-3500rpms, then dies. it wont hold idle at all. we checked for vacuum leaks, but found nothing. we been playing with all the adjustments- idle screw, tps, ect... but nothing. any suggestions?

You don't need a code checker. There is a simple technique for reading the error codes. Do a search for info on how to do it.

Try starting your car and keep your foot on the gas to help it idle. Do this for about a few mins then take your foot off. If it idles the sensor behind your t-stat is bad, I forget the name. My car had the same problem, it fire right up, shoot up to 3k for cold start then it die.

It's possible you got one of the injectors installed *cocked* making a air leak. Also the grommets on the injectors if rock hard will cause an air leak. It's usually the primary that can get *cocked* upon install.

Also check the brake booster vacuum line where it attaches to the engine.

thats what i think it is, becasue his injectors with the old grommets were really loose and wouldnt stay on......so im wondering if air is seeping in the little crack from the grommet and the injector...

the brake booster is fine no problems at all there....
