Not getting fuel
This was an update to a post a while ago, but I did not get too many replies so I will try again.
Trying to start the project car and it acts like it is not getting any fuel. I have checked engine fuses and they seem in order. The engine has no compression that I can measure so this might also be a factor.
Tried using some starter fluid and it just "choked" if you will. Would not even begin to catch. I am getting spark on both coils.
Listened for hum of pump in rear, heard only silence when key was on and also when cranking. What is the problem? Is the pump completely dead, a short, clog in the line, what? Someone suggested to see if the injectors are getting fuel... how would I go about this?

I figured it was the fuel pump, but I was not really sure. I thought I might have a short somewhere. I put a new Wal-Mart battery in there and it cranks faster than hell, just will not catch at all.

Update:
Went over and started fooling around with it today. Could not find a yellow test connector, but I did find a white one that looks exactly like what is in the FSM and Haynes manual and is in the right place. Anyways, jumpered that and still no whirring from the pump when cranking, on, whatever.
I guess my next thing to do is drive down to Autozone and pick up a new pump and see if I can get some fuel flowing. Sitting for three years I am probably going to get a fuel filter and change that too... no telling what has clogged it up.

I swear to you I found no yellow two-prong connector. There is a green one, a white one, and four prong yellow connector that goes to the fuel pump resistor pack, I believe. I jumpered the two opposing wires on that to be safe, but I still got no whirring sound for that either.

I am looking right there J-rat and I kid you not that there is no yellow connector anywhere in that area. There is a white one in that spot that looks exactly like that though.

Well, got some good news, I think... Went to AutoZone and got a new pump and filter. I decided to look one more time for this yellow connector. Still did not find anything, but I happened to see the ends of two small wires coming out of another wire bundle.
These wires were in the same area and I thought... "Hmmm maybe this is it." Sure enough, I jumpered the two wires and I could hear the voltmeter inside clicking up and down when I moved the jumper wire. Apparently someone had cut this connector off. The cut was straight and clean, so I ruled out engine vibration or anything else.
Started cranking the car and although the fuel pump was running now I assume, I still got the same results. Except that now I am getting the strong smell of gasoline when I am cranking. Checked the plugs to see if they were fuel soaked and they smell lightly of gasoline and oil.
I suppose next step is to T off a fuel line and see if it is getting adequate pressure. I tried to get at the fuel pump to test voltage, but the screws are so rusted I was just grinding them down.

you can try testing the voltage to the fuel pump depending on which 7 you have it should read at least 9 volts and 12 at wot, but n/a's may be 12, not to sure, there are a few wires going to the pump so use the fsm to see which are suppose to get voltage to the pump, i think their may be one wire that gets 12v all the time, but i could be wrong, just check the fsm.
its a common problem i believe that 7s dont get proper voltage to the pump. i had very strange problem kinda similar, but i was not getting any power to the pump it turned out the relay underneath the steering wheel wasnt getting enough power to switch the relay.
the best thing probably to do if u cant figure it out is follow the fsm under fuel and emission control system, all you need is a multimeter and test various things, such as resistors, relays etc. this how i got my car running, it took me a day, but im sure any mechanic would of charged me an arm and a leg to fix the problem, well worth the day spent.

just connect the 2 wires. turn the key to "on" and listen in the back.
since you said in the first post you have no compression??? if that is true then the engine is dead.
you also said it was cranking really fast. which also means it's either dead or flooded, both causing no compression.

I agree though that the engine is shot, but I am trying to figure out what else could possibly be wrong as well. I am not sure whether to take the new pump back or just bite the bullet and install it. I am having doubts whether the pump is working even though I can smell gasoline.
