not average electric fan question

i'm going to wire my electric fan to come on with the ignition, but i am not sure which fuze to tap into. Could you give me advice on which fuze to use or the best way to wire this up in my car? Thanks for all the help in advance.

Use a relay and a 12v+ ign source to trigger the relay. Some guys use the wire for the A/C clutch.

IIRC Icemark did a writeup on how to wire one of these up correctly. Go look for it.

Edit: And this is the average efan question

Dude, don't do that. Do it properly with a relay fed from the battery via a fuse, with the relay operated by a thermoswitch.

So don't buy cheap ones. I've never had a problem with them (bought three).

To prevent this problem, don't switch to an electric fan.

Just keep ontop of the newborn system. Anyone who doesn't notice the fan isn't working until too late shouldn't be modding the car in the first place.

My temp switch source is from the battery fuse.
It may run as long as 20 seconds after I shut off.
(It's the NA equivilant of a turbo timer)

by the way, you're not the first. SO this is an average e-fan question.

And for GOD sake man, don't be cheap and use a thermoswitch.

thermoswitches are great for electronics...but if it were me, id just wire to cut on with the ignition...the more air you're pushing from the get-go, the longer it takes to heat up, the more gradual it heats up...

A fan (mechanical or electrical) is only supposed to run when required. Otherwise you're putting a constant heavy load on the electrical system and sucking engine power. This is a big step backwards from the stock fan and is completely pointless.
