noob to turbo question... disable boosting?

Is it possible for me to just disable boosting somehow?
Like always have the wastegate open (but then it would probably just go to ~6psi slowly)? or would I have to completely just take off the turbo and run it like a 4port na (ie, get new intake/exhaust/etc)?
I know its a dumb question but I dont want to blow my engine...
I want to be able to open the throttle a little more w/o having to worry about having the turbo spool up (until i can fix my heat issues)... and for more knowledge for later.

I suppose if you unhook the wg acuator arm from the wg flapper, you might not get any boost at all. But why are you woried about blowing your motor?

He says he's got heat issues, running more air+fuel with a turbo charger will create heat. But whatever.

Yea like he said, leaving the arm open will prevent most boosting. If you have an aftermarket exhaust however, your going to still get boosting in the upper rev ranges I would think unless the gate is ported.

Let me modify that slightly. If you unhook the actuator arm AND tie the wastegate OPEN, it will reduce boost. If you just unhook the arm, the flapper can stay closed.
