noob question

noob question

i went to change my alternator and realizedmy new one wouldn't fit. i went back to reinstall the old one and realized there was a large gap on the pivot bolt. is this normal? or did i lose a spacer when i dissassembled it?

There is a metal spacer (really thick washer)
