noob needs some help with my new 87 TII

whats up guys this is my first post of many to come
im not new to fixing cars (so i have common sense and mechanical skills) im just new to rotaries and this seems to be a popular forum so i thought i should join to further help me along with my new purchase. just recently i purchased a 87 rx7 turbo 2 with 57,571 miles on the odometer, showroom paint, mint interior new tires, and the cleanest engine bay i have ever seen. and old lady bought the car new in 87 and used it to drive from home to work and back everyday(which is about 10-15 minutes away from her house). then one day her husband passed away and he left her everything he had including his new honda accord so she put the rx7 away in the garage and there it sat for about 4 years untouched under a car cover until one day i was driving down the street and had seen my buddies looking at the car (they lived down the street and kinda know this old lady) i dont know whay they were looking at it but when i walked up to it i was amazed how clean this thing was(keep in mind i was never really into rx7's but for some reason i knew i had to have this car) i asked the lady what she was gonna do with it and she said "sell it hopefully" so i asked her how much she wants for it? (this is the best part) she says"well....since its so old and has been sitting here for a while how does 500 bucks sound?" i told her ill be back in 5 minutes with the money sol i went to a cash station and cash advanced 500 bucks off my credit card and walked away with the keys, title and a bill of sale..shes even letting me work on it in her garage until i can get it running again (its not the best garage and has no lights but at least its not parked in the driveway and has shelter and electricity) so first thing i did was take the hood off the car to make it easier to work on this thing. then i jacked the car up and took the plastic shroud off from under the front of the car incase i dropped any bolts or tools they would drop to the floor and not get stuck on the shroud. then i drained the oil and flushed it with new oil until the old black stale oil was almost all drained. then i changed the oil filter. (im gonna wait until im ready to start the car to add new oil and coolant) so right now the car has no oil and coolant. then i started to replace every hose i could find(this included taking off the throttle body and upper intake manifold section. once every hose i could find was replaced i took the fuel rails out along with all 4 injectors. had the injectors cleaned and blueprinted for 25 bucks each at a local shop. i took apart the fuel rails and cleaned them the best i could and put them back together then i put all of that stuff back in and noticed this little thing on the lower intake manifold that looks like a valve of somesort and has three hoses going to it( it looked a little corroded so i removed it as well and cleaned it) inside it has a spring and a o ring thats pretty much it. it bolts to the driver side of the lower intake manifold and all three hoses come out towards the firewall. heres my first question what is that little valve called and where do those three hoses go? 2 hoses are small and one is a bigger hose that looks like a fuel hose. so i put the intake manifold back on along with the throttle body and everything is hooked up ready to go except the intercooler, alternator, throttle cable, cruise control cable(which will be removed),and that little valve which i dont know where those 2 small hoses and one big hose go to. i have the haynes manual but it isnt much help i dont know of any shops in illinois that work on rotaries nor do i know anyone with a fc33 that would be willing to help out. anyways thanks for reading this really long post but i think i let you guys know pretty much everything ive done and where i sit now so you can better help me .

thanks in advance,
Touge fc33

First off welcome to the site. You got a hell of a deal on that car!! Ok now on to your question. I am not 100% sure about what you are talking about I might need more details if not a pic or two. But to make things simple there are 3 items that could be what you are talking about but I am not sure due to your description of placement. One is called the ACV it bolts onto the lower intake manifold and faces the passenger side shock tower. The next one is the cold start valve it bolts onto the other side of the intake manifold (opposite of the ACV) and faces the top of the block/drivers side shock tower. Third is the EGR valve that bolts onto the side of the intake manifold and faces the fire wall. Let me know witch one you are talking about and we can tell ya where the hose’s go.

it has to be the cold start valve its on the driver shock tower side of the lower intake manifold right above the secondary fuel rail and below the primary fuel rail it has 1 hose coming straight out of the end of it facing the firewall then 2 hoses make a < shape but more like a sideways U and they both face the firewall as well the top part of the sideways U is a bigger hose and the bottom one is a small hose what i did was cut like 2 feet of hose for each nipple on the cold start valve and just left them taped to the windshield so i could olt up the intake manifold and throttle body and i figured i could find out what the valve was and where the hoses go later

thanks for the welcome and big thanks for the help..ive looked all over my haynes manual ive asked a few guys that ive seen driving fc33's what it was and none of them could give me an answer thanks so much..now all i need to know is where they go and my car will look 100% showroom condition(now lets just hope it starts) hehe

You can just take it off and make or buy a block off plate. But this depends on the weather you are in. Cause if it gets butt cold you might need it to fire up your car in the morning (if you are going to drive it in those conditions).

i live in illinois and i am planning on turning the car back to original before i modify it..i would like to hook up the cold start valve correctly before i go ahead and change things..it just helps me get an idea for how things work and what happens if i change things later in life..so could someone tell me where the three hoses go on the cold start valve?

also got some great news after about 2 hours of putting the intake manifold, throttlebody, intercooler, all new hoses, fuel, fuel filter, oil, oil filter, coolant, air filter, plugs, wires, after 1 ATF treatment, and after about 6 trys bump starting it in second gear down the street blowing stop signs just so the slow car pushing the T2 could get to speed we finally got it to run under its own power it still has a total of 6 vacumn lines that arent hooked up which probally have somthing to do with its lack of acceleration but it runs strong and didnt even smoke all that much after sitting for 3-4 years and an ATF treatment i was suprised at how well it ran... it has a small idle problem though..i have to keep on the throttle to keep it running ..but overall i can allready tell im gonna like rx-7's a whole lot (i even had a drifting incodent in second gear the back wheels got away from me because the ground was wet and a whole family watched me take the turn sideways
