Non-Sunroof roof center support bar

I am kinda stripping the car, took out the headliner, see that center support bar hanging out and it was connected with like 3 screws.
is that piece FUNCTIONAL at all ?

They are glued on in a few spots to the roof besides the screws. Any kind of liquid nails or adhesive will work. It gives the roof a little more resistance to becoming a bird bath if pushed in in the middle somehow.

Having trouble getting it to fit passed the roll bar?

no actually i was thinking since the bar was out i dunno if i should throw it back on
guess i'll do that lol
