No Start....BUT I THINK I HAVE IT!!!

My brother-in-law is fixing up a nice 87 Sport model... It will NOT start on it's own power. Cranks slowly and just floods out.... He just replaced all the intake side gaskets and the thing still wouldn't start, so we mmo'd it....

Well No luck.. So I said F-it.... And chained it to my blazer and pulled it to the end of the driveway, gave it a little push and the thing fired right up and idled ( a little high mind you 1500 rpms) I drove it around for about 10-20 minutes then parked it...

Battery reads good even with a jump still no start on it's own.. Push it a foot and pop it it fires right up.

I think the starter must be weak... Because the motor barely turns under its own power, it sounds like this....RR_______RRR_____RRR

But the car has pleanty of power while driving so compression isn't a real issue...

I guess starter, what do you think?

I will be sure to check that.... I also made sure the belts weren't under too much tension...

Check battery termminals.
Bad / corroded battery terminals doesn't allow for full power to get to the starter no matter what you do.

Will do... The battery was relocated to the rear, the terminals appear to be new but I was wondering if maybe the relocation could cause this?
