Good to hear that your mom is alright, but man does that suck. I almost gone hit by some teenage girl in her SUV talkin on her damn phone, had to swerve into oncoming traffic to not get hit.

I know if I was to get hit in the front I would totally flip out on whoever hit me, especially if it got the engine that I just put in.

Sniper, the shifter boot looks ripped

Looks totalled($$ wise). Around here insurance will quickly(if fault isn't disputed) issue a check and send notice to the motor vehicle department for a salvage title. Most companies will not bother fixing a 11+ year old car. The estimate for repair is more than what the car is worth. Some will reimburse you for all the recent repairs+book value. Thats your best bet. Not that I am hinting that you should milk the insurance company for every cent possible, but why not!

'Vert parts and TII parts interchange body wise. That looks like an easy fix. If they want to total it, get them to let you keep it and fix it yourself. You can probably fix that for a grand or just a bit more if you shop around for the parts. Or you can sell it to my bud for cheap... lol

I will aquire it ASAP.

The car fram is bent, but it doesnt appear bad from my measurements.

I will strip the engine bay from the shock towers forward and then tow it to a body shop for frame machine work.

I too think it is salvageable, but not for a decent amount of money.

I have the desire to fix it, and my mother wants the engine in whatever car she buys with the money she got. (7,000 - not counting the medical settlement)

I hope that after the medical settlement, she will get a Honda S2000.

Eventually i might get that one to fix and then drive it! ROFL.

Seriously, this car is looking like a TurboII conversion more and more.
Wow... $7k in damage? Even if the frame is bent, if it's not bad that won't take much time OR $$ to fix, especially if you remove everything in the way first.

They totalled the car, this meant that she got 7K back as a damage settlement.

The medical settlement is coming next.

I dont think that they sent the title in for salvage though!
I still have the original title and its not going to be sent in as a salvage car.

WOOHOOO!

The lesson here is, if an SUV hits you, make sure thay pay to fix everything right. And- if makes their insurance more, maybe there will be fewer of them on the road.

BTW you guys should think about daytime running lights.
They will see you comming!
(I may put some on the back.)

Whats the buy back amount(from the insurance co.)? Does the $7k allow you to keep the car? The insurance co will report VIN to state/carfax.....as a salvage.

Also, when one of my cars was written off, about 9 months later the state registry/record ****'s were demanding the original title. Since I kept/fixed the car, they also needed proof of road worthiness. Bunch of bureaucrats. Plus, the VIN was scarred when I ran the carfax. I ended up selling the car and the buyer had to deal with the salvage title issue(I lost the original). Because cars older than 10 years don't need a title(in RI), I finally got the state off my *** by telling them that I threw it out because it wasn't needed anymore.

Just make sure you know how to deal with the gov't clowns.

It is amazing how some people can drive around without paying attention to what they are doing.

Sorry to hear about it, but good to hear that no one was hurt.

Mine needs the front fixed too. Maybe we could get a price break if we took them both in to the same shop?

Man I'm glad your mom is alright too. I had an accident cause of a guy in an SUV sitting at a GREEN light talking on the phone. The light was around a corner and I couldn't see him and allof the sudden I was almost up his ***. soft on brakes-swerve-brakes lock?????-no control-gravel on road-pole-****!-WHAM!-GTU sideways into a utility pole.= A-piler swung down and gave me a concusion, hole in knee from tranny tunnel flexing and sending knee into steering colum, leg wouldn't move for a couple days, and almost loss of consiousness. Lucky the god of a friend with a TII was going to the same place and came driving up seconds later. Car totalled. Thats my horrific wreck. It was only TWO WEEKS after I got the car built. Again, I'm glad your mom is OK. Get as much insurrance money as posible. I couldn't since I dodged to miss the guy and caught a pole instead. I had to pay everything. Crappy thing is there wasn't even a mark on the pole. My car was unfixable,55mph side impact, but good luck with the vert. I hope to see it on the road again.

Not sure I'm following you here BDoty311, But I didn't hit anyone. I barely missed them, and lost control on gravel then hit a pole. not someone else. I took pole so I wouldn't hurt anyone. That would just kill me if some dumb idiot was sitting at a green light and I hurt them. Its not their fault they are dumb, But thats what you have to do while driving, watch out for the stupid people. And I could not see the light.

No ****, that's what I was thinking????

OK, so if the light was red and there was no one sitting there, you would have had enough room to stop?

It seems that you were the one that wasn't paying attention.

Sorry jimmy, but here in Texas we have these things called trees. And in Austin, the city people who trim these trees were not doing a very good job until after my crash. Coming up to that light you are in a rather wooded area and as you are making the corner you would have sufficient room to stop if you could see the light, however there was a broken limb from a tree that was hanging low so that you can not see the light in time to stop. On the other side of this road there was a road work crew that was digging trenches for optical type cables(can't remember what these are called right now) So there was a bunch of gravel all over the road and when I made the swerve the light was turning red so I put on the brakes and they lock up and I lose control of the car, hit the end of the gravel patch, Front right tire catches hard, steering brakes and I happen upon a pole on the side of the road. I was paying very much attention to the road, I always do, this is why That was my only accident to date.

Holy ****!!!!!!!!!

You guys have trees in TX? I thought they were only in MI. Thanks for the info.

Now on to bustin' your ***:

In the above posts, you mentioned that the guy in the SUV was sitting at a GREEN light, and in the last post, you said the light turned RED as you made the bend or swerve as you call it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm........

Which one is it?
