No Power, HELP
I just bought an 88 covertible, this is my second 7, last one was an 86 hardtop. I have a problem with my new one though. It has 145000 miles, no turbo. It is not producing anywhere near the power that my old one did. At 3800 RPM i feel a noticable loss of power, almost like a switch was flipped. At about 5000 RPMs the power comes back a little, but still not where it should be. I replaced the plugs and wires earlier this week with little or no change. Please help with some suggestions as I am lost on what it may be.
Thanks
Steve

and to add to what they have said.
Add another ground to the Chassis with a battery terminal, like a marine wire.
Make sure the ground is still attached to the exhuast. If not add one from the y-pipe to the chassis.
Get ahold of a Haynes manual or look online for the 88 service manul and verify that your 5th and 6th port actuators are working properly.
But before you spend money get a compression test done.

Thanks guys, I added the ground on the ECU and it came back to life. The area near the ECU was wet due to a the convertible leaking probably leading to an even worse ground.
