No Power (Feel sick)

Hey guys, I finally got my car back with an engine from another 88 rx7. The first day I drove it, it drove great. Now all of a sudden it has no power, I was going down the highway about 70-80 rpm was about 5-6000 and it just start decelerating on me, it smokes a lil when you push down the accelerater, I thought it might be the converters but just got them checked out and they are fine. I feel so sick, ive spent so much money getting it fixed. I hope its not the engine.. Does anyone know what this might be? also there is a very very rich gas smell. I dont beleive its the engine beause it starts good and idles. But who knows. Thanks for reading.

First rule of rotary troubleshooting. Compression check. Don't be one of these procrastinators that checks every electronic part under the hood before doing a simple 5 minute poor man's compression test. Remove the 2 lower plugs, pull the 2 EGI fuses in the engine bay, have a friend crank it over with throttle open while your fingers are beside the open holes. Compare air pulses by ear and feel...you should get one per rotor (front/rear) per rotation...6 in a row, ch-ch-ch like a train. Any skips or lack of pulse means blown apex seals.

Do this first, and if your compression is okay we can find your problem more easily.
