No power

I've got a 89 RX7 GXL with the 13b engine NON Turbo. The motor runs fine, but when you put it in gear and let up on the clutch you almost have to hold the throttle down or pat it to keep the car from going dead. I've just got this car and I've no clue about rotor engines. The basic tune up has been done to the car ( air filter, fuel filter, oil, oil filter ). Can anyone give me a clue to what may be wrong? Oh, and there are no cats on the car if that may have anything to do with it.

could be that the timing is off very badly. I am having the same trouble with my car right now. Another thing to consider would be a large vacuum leak. That can give the car lots of trouble during start up and idle. It could also be a broken TPS I suppose.

When you first start the car it will start then die. It will do that a few times unless you pat the gas. Once it is running though it idles fine.........alittle high but steady ( 1500-2k rpm ). Car has over 110k miles on it.
