No oil pressure! now what?

I was driving down the road today, top down, enjoying the sunshine and I noticed that my Oil pressure said zero. Aww crap. So I drive to the nearest gas station and check things out....oil level is good, no oil leaks that I can see. So to be on the safe side, I put in 1/2 quart of 2 cycle to my full tank of gas and I've been driving it since. It seems to be running fine. Do you think that it might just be the gauge is broken, or do you think it's something more serious and I better get ready for the TII swap! Thanks for your input.

yeah guage is usally the cause of making someone thing there is no oil pressure. check the sending unit right below the oil pedestal (you know where the oil filter is located). There is a wire that is attached to the oil sending unit that has a habbit of comming off. I would probably check and make sure it hasn't. Also it is right below the oil filter so it has a habbit of collecting oil and road grime, so you may want to clean it off as well. If that still doesn't work get you an electric oil pressure gauge at autozone for like 50 buck for the sending unit and all. If it shows no pressure with that than you know its not the gauge. So then you move on to oil pellet and oil metering pump. Good Luck!

Wire came off the sending unit...that is my first guess. It is the round brass thing right below the oil filter.

Second, you have a gauge issue. The engine would run for about 2.5 seconds with no oil pressure.

ya know...it's funny. Since I put 2 cycle oil in my gas, my car seems to run smoother and quieter. I think I'll keep doing it. How much should I put in? I used a 1/2 qt. in a full tank. Is that enough/too much? Thanks.

that really would only fix the more minor problem that would be caused by zero oil pressure. its usually 1oz to a gallon btw. when i fill up, i usually add right around 15-16 gallons of gas, which works nicely to half a quart (16oz) of premix.
