No More 5th and 6th Ports...

Well, I finally did it. I removed the airpump, ACV, and auxillary port actuators. I also wired open the ports. The cut in bottom end torque is minimal, and is only really noticed when I come off of a dead stop. The only thing that I have to do differently in my driving style is slip the clutch more on launch to keep from bogging down, and I have to stay in a gear longer, if I want any power. Insted of upshifting to 3rd when I am crusing around, I insted stay in 2nd. No biggie. It took about 45 minutes to do all of the above, and I kept all of the parts in case I wish to put em back on! I am a little nervous on the effect of my high flow exhaust will have in cutting even more torque, but we shall see...

Not having any bottom end is good practice in case you ever buy a TII. 8.5:1 CR sucks when you're taking off with no boost

When I remove my actuators, I'm putting Pineapple racing sleeves in and wiring them open.

I completely removed the actuators from mine. It works great with a TII upper manifold, turbo and intercooler. Guess what? Stock n/a ECU

I wired my ports open and I can't tell much difference in low end-torque. I do have to wind up a little tighter from a start.

my 2 cents

If you flare the edges of the pineapple ports a little before you put them in, the pressure of the intake manifold pushing on them will keep the wide open, and you don't have to wire anything. You can completely lose the actuators.

Sean,
Thanks for the tip. I would do this mod now, but I am waiting for my S5 intake. I might as well do it all at one time.

And knock the pins out while you're at it.
