No gas, revs bouncin' all over the place, check engine light...OMG!!!
A friend told me about this place and from what I've seen, it's pretty sick.
So I was driving my rx7 earlier today and when I was coming back home, I put it in 2nd and go up this not so steep hill. I'm on the gas a little and about half way up, the throttle just doesn't respond. The car is still on but when I give it some gas, it doesn't accelerate.
I had enough momentum to reach the top and when I do, I put it in neutral and coast down to park. While I'm coasting, the revs start going up to around 2,000 then down to around 1,000. It did that about three times then I pressed on the gas and it stopped doing that.
Then when I find a parking spot and stay idle in it, the rpm's are at around 500, well below 750. I was all wtf is going on at this point. So I give it a little more gas and guess what? The revs start bouncing again. From like, 700 to 1500. And this time, every time the revs went down to 700 the check engine light came on for a split second.
I gave it a little gas again, it stopped bouncing, the idle revs were still below 750, somewhere around 500, and I turned the car off.
Would this be a compression problem? I always had the feeling that my compression might be a little low, but wasn't sure. I don't know if that's the problem right now though. I had just finished practicing how to heel and toe downshift and everything was fine. Whenever I blipped the throttle the rpm's shot up quick. So I really have no idea what's happening under that hood.
