No fuel
No fuel
Ok I dont believe my car is getting fuel and I cant figure out why. I checked the voltage at the pump and it's good. I pulled the pump and put 12 volts to it and it worked normally. I've checked the grounds and everything is good. However, when I turn over the car it still wont fire. I pulled the trailing plugs, and they were dry. I checked the injectors and made sure everything is connected, and I havent found anything that seems out of place. After going over everything i'm still completely lost and cant figure out why she isnt getting fuel? Any ideas?

It means the wire you checked at the pump wan't the power wire to the fuel pump.
The fuel pump does not run when the key is put to ON (unless the fuel pump check connector is coupled)
The fuel pump runs when you HOLD the key to START.
The fuel pump runs when the engine has acutally started.
The fuel pump power wire is black/white on the pump half of the connector and is Blue on the chassis half of the fuel pump connector.
The AFM is NOT used during the Start cycle.
IF the engine is not starting and it's a series five, I'd suggest holding the accelerator pedal full down and trying that. The fuel pump should shut off doing that and if the engine was flooded, the engine should start. A two second spray of starter fluid into the air intake never hurt things. Peferably no more than about a second or two of spraying that stuff or you'll have detonation once it starts.
It's not real clear in your post whether or not you have spark or not. You need to find out if you do have it or not.

Ok so my question is, what is different when the fuel pump diagnostic plug is jumpered? It's allowing my car to run and before I did this, the car wouldnt run at all. Is there a problem somewhere with something else that I need to fix?
Alright I pulled out the pin jumpering the fuel pump diagnostic and now it's running fine on it's own. I'm confused. If someone could shed some light on this for me, that'd be great. Thankyou everyone for your help
there a 3 places to check
1 the AFM
2 the fuel pump switching relay ( under the dash behind the steering wheel )
3 the main fuel pump relay by the radiator/AFM
download the shop manuels or write down the ohms you should be seeing and go check these - you will need a multi meter

Circuit Opening Relay which pulls that relay IN and completes a circuit to the fuel pump.
Same thing happens when the AFM flap/vane is pushed aft. Makes a gnd circuit to the Circuit Opening Relay so it'll pull in and feed pwr to the fuel pump.
When you HOLD (as in HOLD) the key to START, you put pwr on a seperate coil in the Circuit Opening Relay which pulls the contacts together in the relay and feeds pwr to the fuel pump.
Turning the key to ON does NOTHING AT ALL as far as the fuel pump running goes.
So leave the jumper out of the fuel pump check connector. Turn the key to ON and push the vane in the afm aft and see if the fuel pump does not start running then.
I don't know if I said this before or not, but the AFM is NOT used for fuel delivery during STARTING of the engine. The act of putting the key to START makes the fuel pump run, not the switch in the AFM.
And just how do you know that the pump isn't running when you go to START? Does the car start if you have the Fuel PUmp Check connector jumpered but if you don't have it jumpered the car will not run???????

So did you pull the jumper out and it kept running, or does it start without the jumper in now. If it kept running after you removed the jumper, then its possible that the signal to trigger the pump in START isn't happening. I'm not too familiar with the specifics, so I'll let hailers post on what to do.
Ok after i jumpered the car i removed the paper clip and now the car works fine. I drove it to work and it sat for 5 hrs and then i came out and started it normally and it ran perfectly. I think i may just of have needed to prime the line. I'm not sure but things seem to be working fine now. I'll check the other relays tommorow and see if i find any problems. Thanks so much for your help.
