No distributor....

I understand that my rx7 doesn't have a distributor and just uses the coils, is that right? How exactly do I have the coils checked? Someone please let me know ASAP. Thanks.

I'll let someone else do that. The Factory manual is free online. If you go to section 5, it gives the description. To download it go to .........http://www.iluvmyrx7.com or go to John Gibson's site at fc3s.org. If you see a post by him you can just click on his logo at the bottom of his post. Or you could go to the SEARCH icon on this site and put his name in, and pull up one of his posts and do the above. I'm sure someone will give you a good description, but in the long run if you download the manual............

Your car has distributorless ignition. IT uses a crank angle sensor(the round, flat black thing on the front driver side of the engine by the pulllies) to detect the engine's position, tells the computer, and the computer sends the appropriately timed signals to each coil to fire. If youre having a problem it could be the CAS, ECU, or coils, or the fuse that controls all this, under the hood. Like Hailers said, check the shop manual step by step, just like a dealer mechanic would(or try).
