No crank, UIM buzzing after touching wrong power window wires..

I was trying to get my drivers side window to go up. So I was putting power to the underside of the switch. I must have touched something wrong bc now it wont crank. Makes a noise like it is trying but the engine is stuck or something.
When I did this with the wires it sounded like a solenoid engaging under the hood(click). Now, turn key on and get a buzzing/ticking? sound at the UIM, Right where the solenoid click sound was. ANY IDEAS?

I think that's the main relay that's making the clicking sound. I once tried the same as you've done also with no luck. It's best just to remove the door panel and apply power to the connector at the motor.

Thanks Hotdog, that's what I ended up doing after my mistake. Any idea what I could have fried in the process? My batt doesnt seem to want to take a charge now, but I dont think that is 100% the problem. I will feel really dumb if it is.

Maybe these two wiring diagram attachments will help you troubleshoot your problem. I assume that your car starts and runs. You might have shorted out the voltage regulator/rectifier in your alternator. If your ignition was in the "on" position when you applied a voltage to your window, than that voltage may have had a direct path back to your alternator resulting in blowing out the voltage regulator/rectifierr .

Thanks for your replies, I feel stupid as predicted. Apparently I completely fried the battery when I did that. Running normal after a jumpstart.

No worries. Sometimes we all do dumb things, but hopefully we learn from our mistakes.
