Nitrous to cool TII intercooler?

Got all the parts to do it but still aint sure if it will make a big gain in power.Nitrous is at 190 degrees below Zero when it is released into the atmosphere so would chilling the ic to say -10 make a big diff in power?Change the incoming air to 100 form 210 would gain 25hp,that is what i come up with.

Btw this is on a stock turbo non ported running 7psi 88 TurboII.

Water Injection

Why dont you look for a water injection system?? its much cheaper than NOS and much more reliable. Nos in my area is $5.50 US per pound, gigure 60 bux for a 10 pound tank refill, distilled water is cheap by the gallon.

Water injection can cool off your system X2 to X3 more than the stock intercooler.

I see your point, use like a 10-20 pound dry shot to cool off the system, but it wont prevent detonation like water injection could.

I've seen non intercooled turbo drag cars with water injection running 20+ psi safly. WITHOUT AN INTERCOOLER

Or setup a sprayer in front of your intercooler to spritz it with water when needed.

what all is involved with water injection, and would you have to change any air/fuel settings? Also, would this do anything to the emissions? I've thought about this idea, but never got around to getting much info on it. It's kind of odd that I was just working on a little Thermodynamics and came back to see a post on Intercooling and water injection.
Good luck with the NOS by the way, someone needs to try it and see what's involved and what kind of gains you get, so be brave and see what you get

Are you talking about nitrous injected into the IC or just onto it to cool the surface? If you are cooling the surface of the IC remember, this is a gas and a varying amount will find its way into the intake and cause you to run lean-I have read of engines blowing from this! If you are injecting it into the IC, of course you would treat it as any nitrous application and supply extra fuel. I agree that water sprayed onto IC core is good (like Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions) and a proper water injection is great; both are safe (unless you use water injection as a tuning crutch and detonate when you run out of water.)

I am spraying the outer area of it with the Nitrous none will enter the motor.
Here is a site with a alcohol injection kit it was made for Gn's but will work with any turbo car.
http://www.geocities.com/rad87gn/tech/SteveCkit.html

Ok back to the nitrous,i am mounting a nitrous plate made for a carb set up on the intercooler so it will be sealed from the motor.

The plate looks like this.
It will fog the ic and thus drop the temp.

Thumbs up

Nitrous Express makes a NOS kit just for the application of cooling off the intercooler from the outside. It has a pipe that goes around the entire intercooler. you should see their website.

I'm also seriously thinking about water injection. I've of water injections systems such as ERl's to drop air charge temps as much as 30%. I posted a thread on the single turbo section on this subject, ans see if anyone has done this before. I know that LUV94RX7 has done it ...install by KD rotary

Lightbulb

Nitrous Express makes a kit especially for the purpose of cooling off the outside of the intercooler. On a civic w/ a Greddy turbo kit they claim a horsepower increase of 50 RWHP.....think about that for a second

I was also thinking about water injection. the bonus is that it's cheaper than nos and the gas mileage would also go up. It's one more thing to monitor, but NOS isn't idiot proof either. In the long run once water injection is tuned you could also run the NOS. I started a thread on water injection on the single turbo page, any comments post them there.
