Next step, fuel pump

Ok, I have an 87 TII, stock engine with 74k miles, RB turbo exhaust, RB FCD, K&N Air Filter attached to 3" TID, new plugs and 8mm wires, removed A/C P/S air pump, and a DIY BOV. Now I have heard I will detonate with this setup, which hasn't happened to me yet, but this weekend I plan on getting a walboro 255. With the install of the walboro will my a/f mixture automattically richen out or does it require an aftermarket engine management system to work effectively? How much is a walboro 255 approximatley and where can you get one?
Also how much hp do you think my setup has currently? Will the pump add any HP?

i think summit racing has walbaros, cant rember prices, the pump probably wont add anything, if your stock pump is having problems then it might help out, but if your not noticing problems with pressure drop or anything like that, i doubt you will notice any change

I was just wondering because in a Turbo magazine I was reading they had a WRX with 300hp with a good set of mods, then just by adding injectors, and a bigger fuel pump and tuning it they got it to 380hp or something. Do you think local tuner shops will stock fuel pumps?

walbro 255's cost around 115-130 bux depending on where you find em. I believe it will automatically richen your mixture but make sure you do the hardwiring of the pump for maximum efficiency and reliability.

Well contrary to what some people say, fuel will not give you HP. The walbro will give you a little more cushion but I suggest you get some gauges to monitor youe egt and maybe a/f ratio as well. I don't even have a full exhaust or my TID done but I'm getting some 720cc injectors and a s-afc to make sure I have enough fuel.

If I get a walboro 255, will I need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to make the walboro do its job? Or will just intalling the pump add more fuel?

On another note, I don't think Ive detonated yet, but sometimes when I hit high rpms with my foot still on the gass the engine will *hesitate* and the exhaust will go from normal to a low *BVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV* and then normal then low *BVVVVVVVVVVVV* until I upshift. What is this condition?

That's the lighter flavor of detonations. That happened to me slightly before the hammer against engine noise.
