Question Newbie from VW lookin for some advice

sup everyone...i currently drive a vw corrado supercharged and i was just about ready to put $800 in the engine, but even at that point itll still be running very low 15's/high 14's if im lucky. im lookin for another car to get afterwards and a 90-91 rx-7 turbo and 90-91 supra are top on my list...any advice or am i just looking at climbing into another money pit in hell....my brother is a mechanic and worked at mazda for a while, but is tired of workin on my car cuz it needs attention every week...would this apply to the rx-7....after i buy it i plan on making sure its running in tip top shape and afterwards putting the mods on, but thats when i dont wanna deal wit tuning it up all day and night....sorry for the lengthy post

Welcome

The Rex could be described as "money-pit", but only from non-believers

You will sure be getting a better car, and a lot faster one too...

Corrados are cool but you need a SLC with the VR6 and get in touch with EIP tuning for their crazy turbo set-ups. Then again Corrados are front wheel drive, so you would be better off with an RX7. The old Supras don't have enough support in my opinion.

thanks for the input fellas...im already leaning towards the rx-7, now i just have to convince my brother since he does ALL the work on my car and i know it can be a pain in teh *** to work on a rotary engine sometimes....btw how expensive is it to modify the engine safely...im guessing a boost controller, intake, exhaust would be the supposed "stage one setup" [Party] :1party:

man, ive worked on mustangs, trucks and other imports such as VW, and i can saftly say that my RX is the easiest thing to work on and modify, tell your mechanic to get a book, and read it for about 20 mins and he'll be more than happy to work on your car, hell, he may even ask for rides in the rex instead of money in exchange for work!.. hehe, have phun

If you look into things a fair bit you'll find that RX-7 is better than the supra. I recently bought my TII and spent tons of time figuring out which was better. It also seems that a RX-7 is substantially cheaper than comparable shape/millage supra. (which is pretty cool) Don't take my word for it, research the hell out of your decision. This forum makes a big difference. If you've got a problem you've got people who know their stuff who can point you in the right direction.

Man it will be much more rewarding if you learn and do the work yourself.
