Of course it's grease. Tranny fluid doesnt even go into the shifter tower.

My C's doesnt rattle at all but from what the FAQ says on mazdatrix any vibration/rattling is car dependent and not short shifter dependent.

I thought you were suppose to add a little bit of oil when installing it? I put a little bit of tranny oil into mine when I replaced my bushings. Mazdatrix website shows them putting in 90w trans oil into the shifter tower.

i kinda like the stock shifter, i dont see any reason to chop your shift lever down so its an inch tall etc. IMO
