you can order you TII engine @ jspec auto
http://www.jspecautosports.com/catal...spx?cat_id=106

or osaka motors
http://www.osakajdmmotors.com/intromazda.htm

but osaka motors according to some members here saying they might send you the wrong year engine or blown engine.

86-88 S4
89-91 S5

call them or email them that you certain year engine or series engine
or check the UIM S5 is slightly larger than S4 i think

when you look at the picture of the engine you want, if it has the radiator cap on the water neck of the engine, its an S4. If there is just a hose there (radiator cap is on the radiator) its an s5.

You shouldn't be too worried. I have heard of one case where an s5 was mistaken for an s4. but most of the time its when ordering a s4 and getting a s5 engine. yours is a s5, so most likely you will get s5, there seems to be more s5 engines in japan. Well, someone said about the waterneck or thermostat housing I like to call, has a radiator cap on it if its s4. S5 should just be the housing and hose going to the radiator. Also check the alternator that comes with it. It should say N370 or N374, and the alternator should have a fat squareish plug. the s4 alternator has a skinny rectangle plug. Also the BAC which is the sensor on the upper intake manifold and should have the S5 TII code N370 or N374. Damn, I can't think of anything else, im brain dead. oh yea, the knock sensor is on the

The waterpump housing neck on the S4 is aluminum, the S5 is plastic.

From what I've heard, you should rebuild the motors from Japan... you can only assume they're good for cores to be rebuilt. There are lots of places to buy rebuilt engines, or to have one rebuilt. Why don't you post in the Southeast forum and ask around for your area?

I figured this section gets more attention then the location specific ones. So your saying all motors you buy like this are crap? They say they have 30-50k miles on them, although that doesnt really say anything since you dont know how they have been driven. But id like to buy a rebuilt TII motor or one that has a good compression. ive found one place that has 30day warrenty, ill put it in check the compression if its bad ill yank it out send it back. Its alot of work but i dunno where i could go to just hook up the engine to check something like that.

OK people you dont drive 2001's your cars are on average 18 years old.......do you think these 30,000 mile motors are sitting in a climate controlled wearhouse?? NO These motors are sitting out in the mud and **** with no spark plugs in then etc. for god knows how long just getting all crusty waiting to be shipped to some one in the US who will pay waaaay to much for a POS

jspec motors are CORES.......and some times you get lucky with a good one. Thats the way you have to look at it if your going to buy one of these.

I am with ecko1980 on this one. In my opinion i have heard way too many horror stories of getting the j-spec motors from these affermentioned places. If i were you i would simply call around or search the forum, e-bay,etc., and get a S5 block and have it rebuilt.

I see that you are from Miami and i will tell you that some of the best rotary mechanincs are in your city! Do not go with Osaka! If your pockets are deep and you are a gambling man, by all means take that chance.

But if you go w/ statistics, it will clearly show that getting a rebuild will suit you better and will give you some more funds to do the essential mods.

Good luck and good find on your new t2!

I've owned three jspecs over the last few years.

I've blown them all up. the engines themselves NEVER EVER NOT ONCE gave me trouble. They were all damaged due to improper tuning. My last j-spec even after a year of total abuse when torn down was in excellent condition and gave me no trouble at all!
