How much HP can the stock transmission handle in a 88 GTU?

Not very much. I think like 250hp. Might I suggest a TII tranny? I've seen those handle up to 500hp.

250!? Maybe if you're super-lucky and don't hotrod or race. The stock clutch will probably slipp out way long before that though anyway... maybe around 200...?

yeah the stock NA clutch really is crummy, esp if you are running the original. heat that bad boy up and it starts slipping a bunch, maybe glazes. couple days of driving with it like that and it went back to normal. originally i thought the clutch was going out, but i think the oem ones are just kinda wimpy because in 2 years it's never gotten worse.

about as much as an n/a... just you have to source a tii flywheel, clutch assembly, and either a custom driveshaft or tii 3rd member and halfshafts
