New TII owner: got a few questions
New TII owner: got a few questions
Okay...
I just got my 87 Turbo II and I had a few questions about it as this is my first FC. Never had a rotary either, so some of the parts are pretty foriegn as well as performance mods.
1) I have no cats and a K&N cone filter, and I still have the airpump. Do I need the airpump, and if I remove it, is there any advantage?
2) Along with the filter, I have a full turbo-back exhaust, starting with a 3.15" downpipe. Now because of this, I would assume I should be running leaner and with higher boost, but I'm still nice and rich at WOT and I still only boost to approx. 7 PSI max. (VDO gauge)
3) My car will backfire after boosting and letting of the throttle. Is this normal and will it cause any damage anything? My BOV vents to the atmosphere, and I heard that may have something to do with it.
Like I said, I'm new to rotaries, so please be patient if these are really stupid questions. (or just call me stupid! =D )

How do you know your rich at WOT?

Yeah, definitely around 7 psi WOT in 3rd gear. No creep either hits 5 right off, then goes up to 7, but I wouldn't call it creep. Got an autometer A/F gauge, and it goes straight to green at WOT. I know this isn't really an accurate gauge, but it's good enough to say it's rich. No smoke, but I haven't visually inspected the turbo. It runs pretty consisten though.
I stand corrected, it does creep to abou 10, but it doesn't get there until like 6000 rpm, that's why I thought it maxed at 7 because it moves so slow. So I guess my car is running normally then.
