Hey guys/galz. I just recently bought a 87 Rx7 from some guy and cant find out the exact model i have for registration purposes. Also its hard to start(riding the starter)and smokes hell when i do get it started. next is the oil press gauge doesnt read anything when started. I tried to search the lots of diffrent forums and couldnt find the right or close answer. Also when i remove the radiator cover, i see the coolent flowing, is that also normal?? Any answer will help. thanks

pull the egi fuse in the engine compartment fuse box.
you dont get a reading like on a piston car, you have to actually watch the guage and see what value it bounces to.
oil pressure guage is very likely just disconnected from the sending unit, look for a yellow/red wire that isnt plugged in hanging down below the oil filter area.

as long as its just coolant moving, it might be ok. if its bubbling a lot, thats bad. try just topping it off a few times and see how the level stays.
look in the faq for model info, but heres the short and dirty:
base- no options, no sunroof,
sport- sunroof, but no power windows , foamy aero kit
gxl- luxury model, has power windows and auto adjust suspension.
turbo- has all the options of gxl, plus a turbo
vert- pretty obvious

Base has the snrf, sport does not. Also the sport model has the tuned suspension and the Al hood.

The Sport and Luxury/SE were. Of course many people mix up the base and the Luxury/SE since they both came with 4 lug wheels, but they are two different models.
And the alum hood was not standard on the Sport. Almost no Sport came with it from the factory.
Common guys! this is all covered in the What did my car come with Standard features and options sticky thread found at the top of this section.

yea, my car has NO power windows, door locks, sunroof, rear window wiper. But it does HAVE power steering, cruise control 5 lug 15" wheels and a small Mazda black spoiler. Last question is, does it have a factory LSD??

you have a sport, and no, I doubt it has a LSD.
Again, there is the sticky thread found at the top of this section which covers options and standard features. Please read that

I have a Sport (86 model, NOT the SE) and I have a sunroof and aluminium hood. Now, maybe the hood didn't come with the car from the factory, or maybe it was switched. I could care less which one.
I'm not sure why people insist on things like "mine has this and this but it's not supposed to, it must be unique!" Your car could be unique, ORRRRRRRRRRRRR, stuff on your car has been switched in the 15+ years it's been around.
Omg, my car says GXL and has all the options of a GXL, but it has a TII motor. It MUST be a screw up from Mazda. Or........ *sigh*
Anyways, this might help:

It has nothing to do with the model otherwise.
