New Shocks

I have a 1989 GXL and was coming to inquire about the front struts. I am looking into buying lowering springs and see that many recommend to replace the front struts. Looking at aftermarket struts would I need to find some that support the cars automatic adjusting suspension or can I buy any struts that fit the car and completely disregard the automatic adjusting suspension part.

87 GXL and I just ditched the auto adjusting suspension and I doubt you'll find someone that makes a coilover specifically for that system. pretty much all FC's use the same mounting points with or without the auto adjust system so just make sure its for your generation and I think you'll be fine.

Alright thank you I just figured I would do my due diligence and ask the people who are more experienced and more knowledgeable considering I have just bought this car a few weeks ago.

hmm it looks like Mazda has the adjustable ones still, FB52-34-900A and FB52-34-700A
~$250 each seems kind of reasonable these days

I would take mazdas websites with a grain of salt. I've inquired about parts on their end a lot and they just end up saying its no longer in production even though you can order them online. Dont think they update their websites too well lol

KYB AGXs treated me well for 80% street and some track days on weekends. It's been awhile though, so I don't even know if they're still available.

EDIT: Yep!

Do all 4 now, you'll regret it if you don't.

I think i’m going to give it a moment and compare to see if I should just buy all new coilovers or buy shocks and springs separately. If you guys have any suggestions i’m definitely open to them.

I went kyb agx and the ground control coilover conversion kit, for a street car it’s a great option and well worth the price
