86 FS suspension

Hey all,

Was wondering on my GXL if the stock suspension front are struts and the rear are shocks or both just struts. Was looking into getting new suspension. Should I get KYB or Tokico?

I think it's shocks all around. What's the difference? You do need to buy shocks for all 4 wheels. Use forum search button for opinions on different brands. Both of those are good. Tokico is just a little stiffer than stock and will work with stock springs. KYB has adjustable stiffness IIRC. If you get stiff shocks you should also upgrade your springs to stiffer ones or you'll blow the shocks. Not to mention handling reasons. But if you're just gonna stick with stock springs then Tokico is a good choice. Works with mildly upgraded springs too.

Front suspension are mcpherson struts, rears are just dampers or whatever. Both essentially need the same thing.

Any recommendation of place/site where I could afford a set of tokico suspension for good price?

both are considered struts fronts are mcphersons though. shocks do not have a spring perch on them struts do. kyb gr2's are nice stock replacements. kyb agx's are a pretty nice strut for the more spirited driver. i had agx's and loved them. gr2's go for i think around 60 a piece.

tokico's are good as well

racingbeat.com sells koni's, tokico's and kyb products check them out

Thanks. Will have to upgrade. I believe my rear passenger side shock is leaking. I figure I just replace all. Probably keep the stock springs since I have no plans of dropping the vehicle since I live in Philly.
