New: Opinions wanted.

Next week I'm probably getting a 1988 RX7 turbo2. As far as cosmetics, paint, glass, interior, its spotless. No rust and recently replaced wires, plugs, injectors, and battery. I've known the car and person I'm buying it off of for about 4 years now but I want an outsiders opinion on the car. The chassis has 120k miles, but about a year ago it had a motor replacement and the motor has 60k. Aftermarket parts are:
1)Turbo XS RFL BOV
2) Ractive (i think, i cant remember) cat back exhaust.
3) 88 turbo replaced with 91 turbo
4) HKS air filter
5) Upgraded Fuel Rail
There are a few other bits and pieces I can't recall right now but thats the most of it.

Sometimes it take a second to start up but i think its from the fuel rail occassionally flodding the motor, but not sure.

Im paying 3500 and its going to be a daily driver. So any opinions or comments would be appreciated.

For each of those items I must ask, why??? DO you know why you want to change those things, or its is something that your buddies down the street told you???

For example, upgraded fuel rail... why??? The S4 fuel rails are already a nice cast peices that you can remote FPR and PD and relocate them as needed, and can flow more fuel than any of your other mods would support.

Or the HKS air filter. No more power than a K&N air filter, and yet you need to replace the foam element every 10k miles at the most.

So, you need to step back before you molest what sounds like a perfect condition car, and figure out what you really want, and not just listen to your tuner buddies down the street.

I couldn't agree with you more. The fuel rail is as good as it gets. I wouldn't change anything except for the exhaust. Go RB with the fuel cut defencer..

buy the car, put the stock fuel rail back on. And you have yourself one hell of a good deal!

You're lucky to have found a great condition T2 for 3500.

But like the others were saying, this isn't a 4 banger. The stock fuel rail is perfect for rotaries!

do you think putting the stock fuel rail back on will reduce (or stop) the car from taking a try or 2 to start up.

Hey if you don't like the air filter change it.. As far as the upgrared fuel pump why change it? It's there for a purpose. It is a supporting mod to toher upgrades..
