AACK!!! From what I have heard, the synthetics dont burn as well in the combustion chamber. Remember, your car injects oil. This causes ash deposits.

The Alaska guys might have said that because synthetics can be pumped faster (less resistance to flow) when they are cold. It probably make the car easier to start in severe cold and gets oil to everthing quicker. I too have heard over and over not to use synthetics in a rotary that is still using the MOP. I use GTX20/50 but it never gets below 20 degrees here so..........

There was a big write up about it about 6 months ago concerning the synthetic vs. regular topic. There are some that say the flash point and ash content of the synthetics are higher then the petrol. based oils. This means they burn slower, and could leave deposits. I tried searching for the thread but I didnt come up with anything.

It could very well be that synthetics have been improved and they burn better, but I am sticking with Castrol GTX. That seems to be the preferred oil for most rotary people.

Ya all I use in every car is Catrol GTX 20w50. I don't see a reason to change that unless you live in a cold climate. Go for 10w30 then.
