new master cylinder and slave with new clutch?

88 SE FC3S
i am going to upgrade the stock clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel
most of you all would agree that an ACT street/strip disc and HD pressure plate would be right for a street-driven FC

my question is, would i need to upgrade the clutch master and/or slave cylinders to be able to work with the new clutch and pressure plate?

if so, would TII master and slave cylinders be applicable, or should i look for aftermarket parts?

thanks
james

I definitely recoomend replacing them.

My master cylinder usually goes out every 8 months. Actually I just replaced it last week.

You cannot use a TII slave because the bolt pattern is different to the bell housing.

i planned on replacing both

i'd also rather not have to replace the master cylinder once every eight months...
does that have to do with your particular setup?

would a new stock clutch master and slave be sufficient enough for what's going in the car?

um. all they do it transfer fluid motion man and the pp isnt going to be THAT much harder to push, just replace the throw out berring when you do it and you will be fine w/ stock stuff especially if you rebuild it

if your tougher pressure plate is blowing out your MC, try using the oem rubber clutch slave hose instead of a braided stainless steel one.

Knock on wood, I've had my centerforce dual friction in for years and haven't replaced the MC since.

Here's my project for this coming Saturday afternoon:

New clutch/PP
New release bearing
New Borg-Warner clutch master cylinder
New Borg-Warner clutch slave cylinder
SS braided clutch line

I picked up both my B.W. cylinders for $65 shipped to my door.

cool, thanks for the replies and info
i read on here that if the fluid gets dark its a seal in the master cylinder going out
and since i changed the fluid recently and it gets dark, i guess it's time to rebuild

plus there is a leak in the slave...
thought i'd double check

thanks again

I can't back up the black fluid idea but I can say mine WAS Black when it failed.

You can buy master cylinder rebuild kits for $12 at Checker.
