I personally like the pop ups, it kinda defines 80's sports cars to me.

PLUS, I think each 100lb rim adds about 45whp, and you wouldn't even want to imagine what kinda insane hp a huge tach in the windshield adds. Not saying that the rex in that picture has one, but I've seen some pretty mean Geo Metros with h uge tachs... scared me right out of my boots.

Actually I believe they did it to reduce weight and aerodynamic drag.

 

well its not like they change the headlight, and wanted it to be slower and look uglyer anyways
so whatever the reason is i want to do that to my FC too

Pop-up lights need motors to open and close them, they are added weight of the very front of the car. Also when they are up, they add alot of unnecessary drag. I believe that the NSXs top speed went up a few mph with just modifying the body to be more aerodynamic.
