Names Chris, Live in Georgia, uhh I own a 1996 V6 s10 and im thinking of selling it and i just love rx7s so i think im gona start to look into them and might buy one, but i wanted to know some things like is insurance good? uhh is there a good aftermarket for 2nd gens, what to look for in buying one, numbers etc..

 

how do i kno if its a fc, are they all just fcs or is it a certian type?

 

FB's are first gens, FC's seconds, and FD's third, short for FC3S, FD3S if you get the drift. There is enough aftermarket parts made for the FC to get by with nicely. If you are looking for straightline fast, go with a turbo from the start, its about 10x easier than trying to make an NA fast.

 

Also, check out the FAQ at the top of the 2nd gen section, its got most of the things you are probably looking for answered. Also as far as insurance, my insurance is the same as my brothers 89' corolla and I have a turbo 89' and I just got my liscence a year ago.

There are some really good buyer's guides and general info. Aftermarket is pretty good - there are a number of companies that specialize in parts for rotaries, plus the major import companies cater to us too. Insurance... well it's a small, light, two door and possibly turbocharged sportscar Not too bad really, just depends on the Ins. Company. As for how much to pay, I'd get on Autotrader.com and do a search, that should give you a basic idea of what to expect. Welcome to the club and good luck!

 

keep your S10, 2nd gens don't cost very much, but if you don't know what your doing, it will cost you a lot keeping it running. either way, keep your S10, and get a 2nd gen as a project/weekend car.

If our going to buy one make sure you take it to a mechanic who knows about rotary and get it checked out (compression ect) first.
